Description
DEATH BEFORE DISHONOUR: The Crime That Broke Brisbane's Heart is a Murder Trails crime casebook detailing a shameful murder from Australia's largest city.
In 1947 two shocking deaths divided society.
On the 10th January 1947 dozens of people stopped in their tracks as piercing screams were heard from the upper level of the Wallace Bishop Arcade in Brisbane's Albert Street. They came from nineteen years old Bronia Armstrong as she fought for her life within her workplace - the Brisbane Associated Friendly Societies (BAFS). Sadly no one came to her aid.
The convicted killer, Reginald Brown was a most unlikely murderer. Accountant and secretary of the BAFS Institute, Reg was a highly respected family man. The details presented to the court of how she died and how he lied were shocking. His death by suicide at Boggo Road Gaol following his conviction was a sad end to a dreadful case.
Former detective and Murder Trails author Alicia Bennett, through careful research, rare images and material, lays bare the facts of this crime. For those who aren’t aware of the story the murder of Bronia Armstrong remains one of the most brutal and horrific crimes in Brisbane history.
